'Fig tree' in the Bible

and seeing a figtree afar off having leaves, he went to see whether he might find anything on it; and on coming to it he found nothing but leaves; for the season of figs had not come.

And in the morning, as they were passing by, they saw the figtree withered from the roots.

And Peter remembered and said to him, Rabbi, see! the figtree which thou didst curse is withered away.

And from the figtree learn its parable. When its branch hath now become tender, and putteth forth its leaves, ye know that summer is near.
